I'm still here, in what we are now calling Fancytowne Station, our new neighborhood, slowly getting unpacked and put away. I have done a couple small projects other than painting. So the Mister arranged our countertops thusly. I love having counter space!!
As you can probably see, I changed out the cabinet hardware. It was really easy. I just picked out the least offensive pulls at Home Depot and went to town with my electric screwdriver.
It used to be this. Wah wuh!
I have these two rescued Breuer chairs that have seen better days. I went to the nearest upholsterer to see if he could repair the caning on this seat, but it seemed like it would be a big huge hassle. I don't like hassles.
So I found a seller on Ebay selling replacement seats for only $30. I chose what looked like the closest color match, and size-wise it was perfect.
Soooo...as you can see, the wood is the correct finish, but the caning is much lighter. Looks like I'm going to have to stain the new unfinished cane or put some kind of sealer on it. I have no idea. Maybe it just darkens over time? The other seats have gone through a lot of years of use. Anyone know? And what should I do with the old seat? I kind of feel bad just throwing it away for some reason.
And if you are joining me from Art Journaling magazine, a fond helloooo to you! Thank you so much for visiting!
I headed up to Create in New Jersey last weekend to take a couple classes with Orly Avineri so I'll have some fun art stuff to show you next week. Until then.
Toodles,
Frau S.
to be honest I like the cane the way it is! I don't see any reason you can't stain it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too. I'll give it a try!
