Not a Yellow Kitchen Kind of Girl

Good God, central air conditioning is glorious!  That said, hello everybody!

So, here's a picture of what our new kitchen looked like before we moved in.

Not bad, right?  Well, definitely not awful.  I was contemplating changing the color and mentioned it to a few friends a couple of times.  I didn't hate the yellow, but I wouldn't have chosen it.  My bestie wisely said, "Um...you're not a yellow kitchen kind of girl."  So true.

I am also not a brass fixture kind of girl.  Unfortunately, the house is full of brass, but that is definitely not a big deal to change over time.  I already got the paint to cover the brass on the fireplace, thanks to this tutorial.  The steps are definitely going to be a design dilemma.  I wish it looked a little more like this picture some helpful person on Apartment Therapy shared with me.  Yes, the published my Good Question question!

But, right now it's looking like this.

We painted over all the yellow!  The entire kitchen and sitting room are now a warm neutral white.  (Behr's Antique White).  Woohah!  But, the question remains, what to do with those steps?  Do you gals have any good ideas? I would love to hear em!  The consensus so far seems to be to fill them with books and plants.

Anyone going to Create Mixed Media Retreat in New Jersey?  I'm going, and hope to see you there!  Drop a line and let me know.

Toodles,

Frau S.
