Just returned from a sweet girls' weekend away (not too far) in Charlottesville and Richmond.

It was a wonderful combination of museum visits, wine sampling, good food, and catching up with dear friends. On the way in to Charlottesville, we checked out Montpelier, James Madison's home, and Barboursville Vineyards. Virginia wines have gotten a lot better! Plus, the tasting was $5 for 23 tastes! Take that, Nappa.

We had a lovely dinner alfresco at C & O with some yummy and fabulously priced Oregon Pinot Noir. We stayed in a cute little inn outside of town (complimentary wine!) and headed to James Monroe's home, Ashlawn Highland in the morning. It was a beautiful misty day.

A quick stop at another vineyard, then we drove down to Richmond where we stayed with our friend who lives there. These amazing houses were in her neighborhood.

We finished up the weekend with a visit to the excellent Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and also had an amazing brunch there.
I've barely settled back in and now I'm getting ready for my first ever art retreat! I am flying out to Washington very early tomorrow to go to Artfest. If you have been or are going this year, please do leave a comment and let me know!
TTFN,
Frau S.
Fun and more fun as you head to your retreat! Enjoy lovey!
